Chapter VI — Decline

The Breaking Point: August 2015

By August 2015, the community had begun visibly fracturing — before the game had released. The General Discussion board filled with threads about member departures and growing doubt.

Darky's thread "My opinion about the game coming out" (17 replies, 1,047 views) captured the mood. Members expressed concern about the release timeline, staff dynamics, and the general direction of the project.

BigeCZ posted "My opinnion about ower staff team" (14 replies, 678 views), airing grievances about the moderation and leadership. Lady Nanami's "Truth About The Release Date" attempted to manage expectations.

Threads titled "people leaving.", "Moving on...", and "I'm Sorry" appeared in quick succession through August and September 2015, documenting a community that was dissolving faster than the game could be built.

FreeRealms Sunrise

The proximate cause of the community collapse was the emergence of FreeRealms Sunrise — an unofficial revival project for the original FreeRealms game that drew away much of the audience Blade Zenon had recruited.

Hiruko Kagetane later reflected that people had gravitated toward what he saw as a false promise of a returning FreeRealms.

From Blade Zenon's perspective, the community it had built to fill the FreeRealms void was simply reclaimed by FreeRealms itself — or at least by the hope of it.

The Revival Attempt: November 2015

In November 2015, Darky posted "Lets revive this" as an announcement thread. The post acknowledged that members had migrated to the competing forum and declared a revival.

Sȶar pushed back, noting that Darky had also left previously. Darky's defense was pragmatic: Blade Zenon could serve as a backup if FreeRealms Sunrise failed.

Hiruko had been checking the forum daily. Fighter expressed interest. ♥ Starlight ♥ returned with renewed enthusiasm in November.

The revival did not hold.

Silence: 2016

Cosinus posted "Sooo... What happened?" on December 24, 2016 — Christmas Eve — to no response. 748 views, 0 replies.

The Last Post: May 2017

The final recorded activity on the forum was OfficialByraine posting in the "Lets revive this" thread on May 20, 2017, asking what Blade Zenon was.

No answer is recorded.

The Afterward

Hiruko Kagetane remained — the last documented presence, checking back every few months with no real expectation of finding anything new, holding onto a faint hope that something might have changed.

The forum remains online, frozen in 2017.

The Discord Revival — April 2018

A year after the forum's last post, Lygon attempted to reconstitute on Discord. In April 2018, the group went through what was called the "First Lygonian Revolution" — a purge of inactive or unwanted members, a new symbol, and a declaration that the group had returned to what it once was.

The attempt came with a clear-eyed retrospective on the 2014 era: that Lygon's golden days had been defined by a shared ambition to build a famous games company, working together on Infantaria and Blade Zenon simultaneously. The same retrospective acknowledged that the 2014 group had never actually shipped anything — ambitious goals that never reached completion.

The 2018 revival discussed running tabletop-style RPGs for members rather than building software. Whether it sustained is not recorded.

The Reboot Discussion

After the forum went dormant, conversations about Blade Zenon continued outside it — among the original contributors who had stayed in contact. One recurring proposal was a full reboot of the project as a Zelda-style adventure game: single-player, exploration-driven, distinct from the MMO-adjacent structure of the original.

The proposal represented a significant pivot. Where the 2015 project had been built around an online community — accounts, guilds, concurrent players — the reboot concept stripped that away entirely in favor of a conventional action-adventure format. The Unity screenshots from 2016 already showed the game moving in this direction (the login screen replaced by New Game / Load Game), but the Zelda framing made the shift explicit.

The reboot was never built. It surfaces in the record only as a discussion — a recognition that the original architecture might have been the wrong vehicle for the story Blade Zenon was trying to tell.
